Nasreen Sultana Mitu, is a professional Science Cartoonist. Committed to engaging more girls in science in Bangladesh, Nasreen has embarked on a novel and effecive new way of getting girls interested in STEM by blending her gift for illustration with her knowledge of science education.
In this podcast, Nasreen shares with UNGEI her experience as a Science Cartoonist in Bangladesh and how comics can help get more girls interested and engaged in STEM education.

About Nasreen
Nasreen Sultana Mitu, is a professional cartoonist and associate editor of ‘Unmad’, the oldest satire magazine of Bangladesh and South Asia. Nasreen is also a an assistant professor at the Institute of Education & Research (IER) of University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh and an editorial cartoonist at bdnews24.com. With a view to popularize science beyond formal classrooms, in 2016 Nasreen launched ‘Project Tiktaalik’, which aims to develop printed and web-based science learning materials in cartoon and comic format.
The first comic book from this project titled as ‘Newton’s three laws’ has been published in 2016 as the first science comic in Bangladesh.Very recently, Nasreen started working with A2i (Access to information) program run by the Government of Bangladesh. A2i developed a web-based platform called ‘Kishore Connect’, to support quality learning contents beyond the traditional classroom to develop interactive and multidimensional quality learning and extra-curricular contents online.
